What A Finish!
The finale to the 1976 Dayton 500 was one of the most mesmerizing of all time. Another classic battle between Richard Petty and David Pearson came down to the wire (nothing new there). After Petty and Pearson bump and grinded all through the final lap, the pair spun out – Petty on the infield, not moving and Pearson’s Purolator No. 21 limping across the finish line.
