#38 – 1956 Buick Centurion

The 1956 Buick XP301 Centurion represents a single model within the extensive collection of Buick ‘Concept Cars’. Buick boasts a rich and significant legacy in the automotive sector, coupled with a deep-rooted dedication to Concepts, Show Cars, and Cars of the Future. Notably, Buick holds the distinction of being the pioneer in creating a Concept Car, with the groundbreaking 1938 Buick Y-Job. The XP301 made its debut in GM’s Motorama in 1956. These vehicles were designed to showcase Buick’s capabilities and generate interest in the brand. Typically, GM would dispose of its concept cars to prevent incomplete and non-roadworthy models from reaching the public. Fortunately, the XP301 was spared from this fate and is now on display at the Buick Gallery & Research Center Museum in Flint, MI.
