The “Hand of Higuita” (1995)
During a friendly match between England and Colombia in 1995, Colombian goalkeeper René Higuita showcased his audacious style of play. With the ball outside the penalty area, Higuita attempted to dribble past England striker Jamie Redknapp but was dispossessed. However, Higuita made a remarkable recovery, executing a “scorpion kick” to clear the ball off the goal line.
